Celebrity Cruises recently announced that two of its ships, the Celebrity Summit and Celebrity Infinity, are heading to drydock for major updates.
The two ships are part of the fleet’s Millennium Class, the oldest vessels operated by Celebrity. They were upgraded a few years ago (the line calls this upgrade “Solisticizing” as it added many of the popular features of the Solstice Class) and the ships have continued to be popular in their own rights.
Millennium Class Updates
- Penthouse Suites and Royal Suites are getting new fixtures, marble surfaces and comfortable seats in the bathrooms. Other refreshes include new carpeting, drapes, and bedding.
- On Celebrity Infinity, the S.S. United States dining venue will become Tuscan Grille. On Celebrity Summit, the S.S. Normandie dining venue will be converted.
- The refresh includes a portrait studio, future cruise sales office, and new updates to the Solarium plus new casino decor. The Rooftop Terrace will be a new addition unique to Celebrity Infinity & Celebrity Summit: an outdoor movie screen, chic decor, and modern, modular furniture will usher in a new way to relax outdoors. This idea was born out of the popular Lawn Club on the Solstice Class ships – the Rooftop Terrace will cater to the same desire for enjoying the outdoors in the middle of the ocean, and is sure to be THE place to be onboard!
Tuscan Grille is an Italian steakhouse concept that has proven quite popular on other ships in the fleet. Along with filet mignon, ribeye steak, skirt steak, and dry-aged steaks like porterhouse and New York Strip, Tuscan Grille will be offering up new menu items like fresh pasta made in-house, an Italian cocktail menu, a wine list focused on the wine-growing regions of Italy, and new foods like artisanal salumi and cheeses, crispy crab arancini with lemon pepper aioli, grilled branzino with spinach and olive oil, and swordfish with Castelvetrano olives, fennel, and white wine.
Some of these menu items are new to Tuscan Grille, and will be tested on Celebrity Infinity and fine-tuned before being rolled out to other ships.
Celebrity Infinity’s drydock is scheduled October 15-29, 2015 and Celebrity Summit’s turn is February 27 to March 12, 2016. These changes are sure to help keep the Millennium Class ships attractive and inviting!
